In the fast-evolving landscape of online shopping, the efficiency of logistics plays a pivotal role in determining customer satisfaction. This study aims to compare the timeliness and accuracy of logistics distribution between reseller platforms and traditional e-commerce shopping platforms. The focus is on understanding how these platforms manage their supply chains to ensure timely and accurate deliveries to consumers.
Previous research has highlighted the importance of logistics in e-commerce, emphasizing that timely delivery and accurate order fulfillment are key to maintaining customer loyalty. However, few studies have directly compared the performance of reseller platforms, which often act as intermediaries, with that of direct e-commerce platforms.
This study employs a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative data collection through customer surveys and qualitative interviews with logistics managers from both reseller and e-commerce platforms. Data were collected over a six-month period, focusing on key metrics such as delivery times, accuracy rates, and customer feedback scores.
The findings indicate that while e-commerce platforms generally have better control over their logistics operations, resulting in higher accuracy and timeliness, reseller platforms are closing the gap through improved partnerships with logistics companies. However, variability in the reseller platforms’ performance was noted, with some third-party logistics providers underperforming.
The results suggest that e-commerce platforms, with their integrated logistics systems, can provide more consistent delivery experiences. Reseller platforms, although improving, face challenges due to their reliance on external logistics providers. The study proposes that reseller platforms could benefit from stricter agreements and monitoring mechanisms to enhance delivery performance.
This research highlights the ongoing evolution in the logistics strategies of reseller platforms and sets a foundation for future studies to explore more effective logistics models that could be adopted by these platforms to enhance their competitiveness against traditional e-commerce entities.
